A Constipation Remedy Using Potassium and Prunes

Rudy Silva

Potassium and prunes are a natural constipation remedy that you can quickly use to help you get constipation relief.

Potassium is needed in your colon walls to insure that peristaltic action occurs. Without potassium, colon walls are weak and unable to respond and contract properly when fecal matter needs to be move.

Potassium in your colon wall tissues brings in more oxygen, which is required for good cell function and elimination of toxins. In addition, potassium creates an alkaline environment inside and outside the cell, which help protect cell walls from bacteria, fungus, and other pathogens.

Potassium is a powerful source when it comes to cleaning, feeding and building your colon walls. Removing the thin layer of buildup – harden mucus, dried fecal matter, waste derby, heavy metals - against your colon wall can be accomplished by eating those foods that are high in potassium.

Excess buildup on your colon walls of fecal matter and toxins is a cause of continual constipation. This build up prevents your colon walls from functioning properly.

Potassium is necessary for reducing anxiety and depression. These conditions can affect peristaltic movements of your colon. Lack of it causes muscles and organs to sag and lack tone.

Potassium, also, draws water out of the body. So when potassium is in your colon it attracts water and pulls it into the fecal matter. This makes your fecal matter softer and easier to move along the colon.

To get more potassium into your diet make a constipation remedy drink by,

Pouring hot water over dried prunes and waiting 10 minutes. Then eat the prunes and drink the juice Do this on an empty stomach in the morning.

The high concentration of potassium and vitamin A, in prunes, stimulates enzymatic processes. These processes melt down fecal wall wastes and dissolve blockages. They also activate peristaltic action to move this waste out through your rectum.

The foods to eat that are high in potassium are:

Kale, cabbage, yellow tomatoes, spinach, carrots, broccoli, cucumbers, cauliflower, alfalfa sprouts, goat milk, sesame seeds, wheat germ brewers yeast, flax seed, grapes, green peppers, pineapple, beets, potatoes with skin Blackstrap molasses

If you have any kidney disease, do not take potassium supplements unless directed by your doctor. If you are pregnant, take potassium only under a doctor's direction.

If you are on any type of drugs, do not take potassium unless directed by your doctor.

When you have constipation it is best to take potassium supplement. Once you have your constipation eliminated back off on the potassium you are taking and depend on your potassium dose from the foods you eat.

My recommended Potassium dose is 1000 – 3000 mg each day taken with meals.

Overcoming Jet Lag

Donald Saunders

Jet lag can be one of the worst, and certainly one of the most frustrating, aspects of long distance travel. Also called desynchronosis (meaning "out of time"), jet lag occurs when travellers pass through multiple time zones, arriving several hours ahead or behind their "home" time.

Travelling across several time zones upsets your body's internal clock, which relies on a variety of environmental cues such as daylight and temperature. The degree of jet lag suffered can be measured in terms of the time change you undergo - the greater the difference in time between your home and your new location, the more disoriented your body clock becomes and the more jet lag you are likely to experience.

One major feature of jet lag is seen in your body's struggle between emotional energy and physical lethargy. While your mind is able to process the change in time and location relatively quickly and can rationally appreciate environmental cues such as daylight (or the lack of it) and time of day, your body will be much slower to respond. Although the time to recover will vary from person to person, most people agree that overcoming jet lag, adjusting to a new time zone and resuming a regular sleep cycle can take two or three days or, in severe cases, an entire a week.

Although not necessarily serious, insomnia caused by jet lag can interfere with mental clarity and efficiency and may have some bearing on your emotional state. Jet lag can also make it difficult for business travellers and tourists alike to maximize the opportunities afforded by their stay. What's more, if insomnia caused by jet lag does not pass, or recurs frequently for more than a couple of weeks, it could be indicative of a more persistent sleep problem.

Natural sleep remedies and approaches can be used to effectively manage jet lag and, by taking a proactive approach, you can significantly decrease or limit the severity and number of symptoms – not to mention shortening the duration of your jet lag.

Establishing a regular and consistent sleep schedule before you even start to make travel plans is one important step towards limiting the effects of jet lag. Simple dietary changes like the reduction or elimination of caffeine and alcohol have also proven effective, and travellers who are accustomed to coping with jet lag often bring along natural sleep remedies like herbal teas and infusions to help induce the body's natural sleep cycles upon arrival at their destination.

You may have heard that sleeping pills and other sleep aids are also effective tools for managing jet lag.

Because sleeping pills suppress the body's immune system in order to generate artificial sleep, as opposed to naturally induced restorative sleep, sleeping pills are not always an effective remedy for jet lag. In fact, sleeping pills can potentially exacerbate the symptoms by delaying the adjustment of your internal body clock.

Does it really matter?

Unless you are under 2 or over 65 and are in poor health, It doesn't matter.

Because of the flu vaccine shortage The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) have said that healthy people under the age of 65 should do without a flu shot.

Here's the best one – a mercury derivative (used as a preservative), called Thimerosal.

Are there safer alternatives to vaccines?

Of course there are. Let's go over some of the most effective proven, safe and natural ways to keep your immune system healthy no matter what season it is.

Are you aware that you can do one simple thing to easily boost your immune system?

Lose the sweets. That's right, sugar compromises the immune system.

Eat a healthy diet with plenty of vegetables, fruits and fresh organic meat protein.

Here's another one – wash your hands more often.

As many people are walking around with colds, you may be shaking hands and touching things others have.

How about those zinc gluconate lozenges you can get at any drug store? These are not only highly effective when you have already caught a cold, but also to keep Your immune system strong when those around you are sick.

Naturally, supplements and herbs have been effective for thousands of years as a proven remedy to ward off colds and flu.

And here is a list of proven natural and effective Homeopathic remedies.

Vitamin C – Be sure to get a natural form of this one

And also make sure it contains bioflavonoids to help absorption.

A good natural multi-vitamin

Echinacea

Grapefruit seed extract (GSE) which is available in liquid, tablet and capsule form.

Finding A Home Remedy For Snoring

Alan Schill

Home remedies are terrific for many things, but did you also know that there are home remedies for snoring? They are natural, safe and, best of all - they are free. If you are looking for the perfect home remedy for snoring, you are at the right place.

Sleeping on your side is a terrific home remedy for snoring. Research shows that individuals who sleep on their back snore more often than side sleepers. Another good home remedy for snoring is to sleep on two pillows instead of one. The additional few inches of elevation may help you to breathe better through the night, which may help you to say goodbye to snoring altogether.

If you are an allergy sufferer, there may be a home remedy for snoring that you can use to also help eliminate your allergy symptoms. When airway passages become restricted, which is often the case with allergies, snoring is a possible result. Breathing steam from hot running water is a home remedy for snoring that is also great for opening the nasal passages and improving breathing. In addition, ridding your home of airborne allergens with the use of air filtration units can help to get rid of many airborne allergens.

Many snoring sufferers, who are searching for the perfect home remedy for snoring, turn to anti-snoring aids for help. The Sleep Genie is one such device, which is doctor recommended. While comfortably supporting the jaw with it's nylon lycra blend, the Sleep Genie holds the mouth closed to prevent snoring. The best part is that this anti-snoring device requires no medication, no invasive surgery and does not hinder the wearer's movement during the night.

Another home remedy for snoring is weight loss. A combination of diet and exercise will not only help you to lose weight and lessen the chances of snoring, but will also promote a healthier lifestyle overall. Obesity is one of the leading causes of snoring, so consider shedding those unwanted pounds and your snoring habit in the process.

This article is intended for informational purposes only. It should not be used as, or in place of, professional medical advice. Before beginning any treatment for snoring, please consult a doctor for a proper diagnosis and remedy.

Fight Fatigue with this Natural Remedy

Kevin Sheldon

Most doctors agree that non-specific fatigue can be exacerbated by modern diets rich in fats and refined carbohydrates. For a graphic example of this, you only have to watch 'Supersize Me' - the Documentary about what happens if you eat nothing but fast food for a month. Additionally, drugs, coffee (caffeine products), smoking and alcohol can make the problem even worse, even though most of these are usually thought of as 'stimulants'. If untreated, chronic fatigue can lead on to much worse conditions such as anemia, hypoglycemia, diabetes, hypothyroidism and even cancer.

So how can one avoid fatigue, without resorting to un-natural stimulants? Here's a natural remedy you can try. The herbs ginseng, lavender, rosemary and sweet flag can all help raise your energy levels naturally. Combine these with vitamin B complexes, vitamins C and D, as all of these have been known to help fight fatigue. The remedy is also improved by the addition of vitamin A, pantothenic acid, B12, folic acid, C, E, iron, calcium and magnesium.

Finally, the most remedies involve a little exercise, and this is no exception. If you can't get a sweat up physically for any reason, try salt-glow skin rubs, or alternate hot and cold showers (not too hot or too cold, mind!).

A little of this remedy should soon get you back into peak form again!

Exercise, diet, rest to fight gout

Anonymous

Question : I'M a 55-year-old man who has been suffering from joint pains for a couple of years. I've consulted my family doctor and was told I'm affected with gout. Is there any natural remedy for this?

Answer : GOUT is a painful and potentially disabling form of arthritis. It causes pain, tenderness, redness, warmth and swelling in some joints. This is due to the increasing levels of uric acids in the body.

Celery seeds neutralise uric acid and other excess acids in the body, thus aiding in the treatment and prevention of gout, joint pain and rheumatism. Guaiacum has an anti-rheumatic action which is beneficial not only for stiff and painful joints but also affected muscles. The combination of celery seeds, guaiacum, ginger, capsicum and sarsaparilla effectively reduces inflammation and soothes the pain.

A combination of exercise, diet, rest and relaxation is important in achieving an optimum level of health and wellness. Light exercise such as brisk walking helps to keep the joint cartilage lubricated. It also strengthens the supporting muscles, tendons and ligaments and increases the range of motion and flexibility of the joints.

Besides that, alcohol, coffee and foods rich in purine such as seafood, beans, sweetbreads and anchovies should be avoided. Try to increase intake of food high in dietary fibre (vegetables and fruits) and complex carbohydrates (oats, barley, bran).

Have sufficient rest as fatigue or even mild tiredness can exacerbate arthritis. Healthy weight management is also important as being overweight can burden the joints, especially the knees, thus aggravating the pain. You may also consider Bowen therapy, a series of precise connective, non-invasive tissue moves that stimulates the energy flow and activates the body's natural healing ability.
